- Firefox hardware acceleration linux. Feb 27, 2023 ยท I've tested Chrome, Brave and Firefox regarding their actual RAM consumption when opening three different news sites (CNN, Fox, HuffPost). It can be pushed even further than Brave in terms of "privacy hardness" but also has the downsides. I personally prefer Firefox over Chrome and Edge for a few reasons. Brave > Firefox I know Firefox can be modified for privacy and performance. Firstly, Firefox is known for its strong privacy and security features, which is important to me when browsing the web. Web developers really only test their sites for Chromium and WebKit, Firefox's Gecko engine is kinda an afterthought. . Additionally, Firefox has a wide range of extensions and add-ons that allow for customization and enhanced functionality. Only thing you need to lookout for is that it doesn't have an auto-updater like Firefox, you need to manually download the new version every time it's available. Then new modifications might become necessary. So I don't need to mess with the settings and deal with any broken modification after an update. While RAM consumption may vary depending on how ressource hungry sites actually are, those benchmarks are reflecting my overall experience I've made with those setups during the last few weeks.
